Jimmy Red Corn Whiskey
This whiskey is distilled from heirloom Jimmy Red Corn grown by Greg Johnsman of Geechie Boy Mill and Market. James Island or "Jimmy" Red Corn was once on the brink of extinction. However, James Island farmer and seedsman Ted Chewning preserved the variety and it is now included in the Slow Food Ark of Taste. Prized for its sweet, nutty flavor, Jimmy Red was first milled by Greg Johnsman for use as grits and cornmeal in 2015 and is beloved by chefs like Sean Brock. Johnsman has the largest viable seed stock in the country but his corn is distilled exclusively by Crouch Distilling.
